Ministry offers to cap metals, minerals prices to untie from dollar

MOSCOW, Mar 14 (PRIME) -- The Industry and Trade Ministry has suggested establishing the maximum prices for metals and minerals to untie prices in the industries from the U.S. dollar, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.

"In these conditions, we need to ensure uninterrupted operations of the Russian industry by untying the metals and minerals prices from the U.S. dollar rate. In order to do this, the Industry and Trade Ministry offers to introduce the maximum prices on some types of metal and mineral resources on the domestic market," the ministry said.

A draft order was published last week, stipulating a price stabilization agreement with the metals and construction materials producers.

The ministry said that the transformation of global energy and raw material demand is leading to a record price increase for some categories of the goods.
